Cars and Houses

Happy Friday.

We’re live on YouTube and 𝕏.

The current thing in tech and business is the launches of Tesla’s Roadster and Porsche’s Mission S.

Cars and Houses

You Can See Everything, the new Nathan Fielder movie about Elizabeth Homes is as incredible as everyone says. Highly recommend seeing it. I won’t spoil anything here, but we will probably talk about it a little more loosely on the show today, so beware if you want to be completely spoiler free. Also, the house where they filmed most of the documentary is on Zillow.

Yesterday was also the launch of the Porsche Mission S and the new Tesla Roadster. Tons of debate over these, I think they both look great. The Roadster event definitely lived up to the hype, the demo car does fly, it kickflips, it goes zero to sixty in under a second, it’s crazy, but it’s also delayed again, with production starting in 2028 (which could of course slip). I was really hoping that the lower trim level (no rockets) would ship within 6 months, but it seems like everyone will have to wait. The response was overwhelmingly positive on X though, with people not really caring about price or timelines here. I do think even if it takes 10 years, it’s good to have founders focused on really long horizon projects, it’s inspiring. There are two directions I could see the Roadster ultimately going (and it seems like they might try and do both, but I do think they will be at odds). First, it beat every track record, that means sub 5 minutes and 19 seconds on the Nürburgring to be the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo (insane). Second, is actually figuring out how to deploy the “flying” capability in a useful way (a tall order).

We will be debating all show long.

Clip Spotlight: Jordi predicts the Tesla Roadster launch will be a Nitro Circus-style demo with rocket thrusters, cars launching off ramps, and spinning around
