Wireguard or OpenVPN?

My uni decided to install a fairly dumb but very intrusive firewall that blocks everything except port 443 udp and tcp. Even dns servers apart from the one provided are blocked. Tailscale doesnt work, i deployed a derp server but performance isn’t good enough to stream sunshine from my home pc. I got wireguard running but it never worked from the uni, I think it’s a DNS problem since I can reach my home LAN fine. I then decided to try openvpn with DCO as and it works fine, though the 2 device limit isnt ideal. How much performance am I losing vs kernel wireguard? Is it anything noticeable? What are you guys’ experiences?
