Founder marketing is harder than any other type of marketing. (I will not promote.)

I've been working in design and marketing for over 20 years. Hundreds of clients, thousands of projects. I dare say I know a thing or two about it. In spite of all this experience, I can't tell you how paralyzing I feel when trying to market something I've made myself. Being able to distance yourself from the product and everything else, you start putting together marketing ideas, then notice something's wrong or you want to improve something before you start sharing a screenshot of it. What is the messaging? Who am I targeting? All of these things should be clear and likely are, but then you second-guess everything before you actually pull the trigger and launch it. I've recorded dozens of hours of video footage of myself talking and using the platform, and they all just sit in a folder on my desktop. The reason I'm saying this is for all those people out there that haven't done marketing before and are struggling to market their product, just know that you're not lacking in talent or creativity or skills. Marketing something you have built yourself is harder than any other marketing project I've ever worked on in 20 years!
