Forced Migration Nightmare... What would you do?
I switched my family to T-Mobile for the iPhone 13 launch. I have loved the service and promoted them to everyone. I have had Magenta Max since we ported over to receive the inside discount and at the time a 3rd line free promo. I then added my parents on for a BOGO free new line promo later that week. Then about 3 years ago I saw this thread and heard about them giving out free lines so I was able to get another line free from that. All in all 2 included lines, 2 paid lines, 3 free lines for 7 total lines. All in all love the service loved everything and went along with the price increases. Then comes the forced migration I got the text oh great (had upgraded to iPhone 17 through apple no trade in since I couldn't get any promotions through T-Mobile without changing my plan and losing my discount. Nobody could tell me what my new bill would be not the link or the AI or even reps they said I'd have to wait till my first bill came out. I did bill was all the way messed up removing a free line. Chatted to TForce they saw and agreed gave me a credit and said hey this is a known problem will be corrected for the next bill. Looked here and other people were reporting the same. I then have to wait much longer than normal to receive my second bill it's even worse than the first. I feel like it's missing my free line still but it costs even more. Come to find out they have rolled my 3rd line free promo into my base plan and removed my inside discount. After going back and forth for a day the escalate it. After over a week at the highest escalation they say that I cannot have inside AND free lines and there's nothing they can do for me. That I'm better off keeping the free lines than keeping the inside discount as that saves me more money. They apologize and say I never should have received both. I'm like everyone has had both all this time. They offer me a $150 credit for 3 months of price increases or they can pay my final bill for me to leave this is a nice gesture since according to them I don't have the good price lock and they aren't changing the base price or the cost of the lines as inside is a discount and not protected under any price lock. I have to make a decision now to stay and only get a credit or leave and get my final bill paid for. I have to decide by Tuesday 9/22. First thought is to leave as I can literally go anywhere all my phones are unlocked and even the newest phone was just bought outright over 2 months ago but to where? I came from Verizon but their plans aren't that great and we don't save that much money to the point it might be better to stay. I've looked into MVNOs but I'm not truly sold. I have had them in the past personally but I don't know about it for my elderly parents who live halfway across the country. I'd have to fly back as I'm not sure who I know who could honestly set them up as they are both disabled. Not to mention what happens if anything goes not according to plan and you have prepaid. TLDR ; Forced migration to Experience More from Magenta Max 7 lines total (3 Free) bill went from $195 to about $245 (their estimate of my bills from now on and reflective of my most recent bill) after loss of inside discount. No device payments on my account most recent phones are through Apple. About $25 is for addons (Netflix premium and Apple TV). They offer me a $150 credit for 3 months of price increases or they can pay my final bill for me to leave. I have to decide by Tuesday 9/22 .
