Can a 5c still work…?

So I broke my old iPhone SE 2nd generation and I realized something: I don’t use my phone for anything except very light calling or texting. Like I mean nothing else. So no I have to buy another phone and I really really really wanted to get the iPhone 5c in blue for $40 since IOS support doesn’t matter to me and I don’t do any sensitive stuff on it either so security isn’t a concern either. Just a very small amount of calling and mostly texting on it. So here is the question: Can I use my old SIM in my iPhone SE 2nd generation for the iPhone 5c to make very slow texts? The phone is North American but I can't tell because different users have different opinions. Tysm.
