Unpopular opinion? Pre-seed is a b.s. term (I will not promote)

"Pre-seed" is the b.s. term invented by investors who don't want to invest as much in seeding a startup. It doesn't even make sense conceptually. "Hi, I need seed money to get going," "Sorry, you're too late, we only fund things before that. Appropriate for the R&D stage, I suppose; it could be said that University research is pre-seed. Once a startup, it's seed funding because we're starting.
