Trump Media & Technology Group stock has long been in the doldrums. But the shares are beginning to show signs of life, thanks to a strong rally in cryptocurrencies.
The shares, which trade under the ticker DJT, were rising 1.8% ahead of the open Thursday after climbing 3.6% in the previous session. Back-to-back gains have been hard to come by recently—the stock has only managed it twice in the past month.
The woes go back further. The stock is down 37% in 2026, 51% over the past year, and down 87% from its closing high in March 2024.
Once a proxy for the likelihood of President Donald Trump winning the election in 2024, it’s now more of a crypto stock.
Trump Media held 9,477 Bitcoin with a fair value of $557.1 million as of June 30, according to the company’s most recent quarterly filing earlier this month. That’s now worth $677 million, factoring in a 11% jump in the price of Bitcoin over the past 24 hours.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency was trading at around $71,800 early in the day.
The move came after Trump urged Congress to pass the long-awaited Clarity Act regulation.
