The federal government is cutting funding tied to prison spaces for high-risk offenders that saw thousands of transfers in recent years.

The latest federal budget included a roughly $132.2 million cut to the Correctional Service of Canada’s (CSC) operational budget starting in the 2028-29 fiscal year.
