The most common question I get in every interview is "How do you pronounce Cthulhu?" So here is my full answer.
Cthulhu does not speak vocally. He is a telepath, and communicates in images, not words. His messages are perceived by humans as dreams or nightmares. Cthulhu CREATED the term "Cthulhu" for we humans to use when referring to him. He also made it impossible for humans to pronounce, and it's perhaps an interesting mental exercise to try to figure why he did this.
Anyway, since no human can correctly pronounce it, obviously the way YOU pronounce it is just fine and as good as any. Once Lovecraft wrote that "Cthulhu" is a single syllable, which is obviously lunacy - perhaps you need two voiceboxes to say them simultaneously?
Anyway, now I'd like YOU to try to explain why Cthulhu wanted his name unpronounceable?
