Two German friends visited me in Texas over a decade ago. Of course I took them to the Fort Worth Rodeo. They loved it. The part that puzzled them was when a cowgirl galloped on horseback around the ring carrying a big Coca Cola flag. They asked me. "Isn't this government funded?" I said, "Nope" and they were surprised.

I took them to a Texas Land & Cattle steakhouse (a chain now sadly lost to time) and they really liked it but I could not get them to order steak properly. I tried. The waitress tried. But no they had to have it well done. Ugh.
