OpenAI to Bring Models to Google Cloud

OpenAI will make its models available through Google Cloud, the companies announced this morning. The move lessens OpenAI’s reliance on Microsoft, where the companies once shared exclusivity.

The partnership also underlines OpenAI’s pursuit of enterprise clients to diversify its business. The announcement comes more than six months after OpenAI said it would similarly bring its models to Amazon’s AWS cloud business.

OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna models will begin rolling out in private preview to select Google Cloud enterprise customers, Google said. Google noted it’s now the only major cloud provider offering all three major closed-source large language models—the company’s own offerings plus Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s.

“Google Cloud is a leading platform for developers and businesses building AI agents, writing software, and putting AI to work,” said OpenAI president and cofounder Greg Brockman in a press release. “This partnership is an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building.”
