I built a website with over a million pixelated pigeons. People can create their own, or adopt one!

Hello! I've recently built a slightly ridiculous side project called Pigeon Internet . It's essentially an enormous online registry of pixelated pigeons, with over a million already in the database. Each pigeon has its own name, appearance, occupation, mood, rarity and unique identification number. You can browse the database, discover random pigeons, or create and register your own by choosing its name and appearance. Registration is completely free. The slightly strange part is that registering a pigeon doesn't mean you own it. It simply enters the public database, where anybody can adopt it for $2. Adopted pigeons get their own little yellow leg tag and a digital adoption certificate. I've tried to give the whole thing the appearance of a vaguely official, completely unnecessary piece of internet infrastructure. It's been a really fun project to build, and I'm now experimenting with ways of getting it out into the world, including physical pigeon adoption posters and potentially a pop-up pigeon registration office. Anyway, it's at pigeoninternet.com if anyone fancies having a look. I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback on the concept, design or user experience. I'm also interested to know whether anybody would actually pay $2 to adopt a fictional pigeon, or whether I've created a very elaborate database of birds nobody wants.
