Steam Headless docker and split gpus, would love to discuss successes and failures..
I am hoping to get a discussion going and link up with some people who have VM/docker gaming success stories. I have two young kids and I have a server as well as some random consumer hardware. I treidd Proxmox and Truenas vms with a split GPU Tesla p40 and it just never worked with Apollo/moonlight etc. Rumor has it steam Headless may make splitting a gpu much easier and more reliable. I ended up building my kids each a machine right before hardware got too out of control but it's clunky I have to boot up these dedicated PCs in the garage then go on parsec which is not as reliable as you would think with weird mouse issues etc. i would love to finally just get this to work and be a good experience, bonus if I can have even more machines as every blue moon my wife or wife and kids friends will want to play together and I dont have enough gaming competant bare metal systems around but I do have some old flash ship and mid range gpus laying around that can perform some work. Thanks! Available hardware to make this happen 3 b550 mobos none have more than one x16 slot electrically or physically I think one or two might have a x8 on the second slot Two ryzen 5600gs 1 x10drhit super micro dual xeon board with some.xeon v4 chips can't recall which ones I have a few to choose from 2x 1660 super 1x 1080ti 1x Tesla p40 24gb 1x Tesla t4/p4 can't remember which one 1x quadro p620 Various ram not much ddr4 for servers though probably 32gb of udimm ddr4 for the amd platforms Several jank laptops that can connect and be the head for the vms/containers/lxc whatever. My main server I would rather not prime for this but if I have to Incan it's a h11sslv2 with a epyc7401p Games we play most, rainbow six siege (has some.strong anti cheat so...), fast food sim, flashing lights, counter strike.source, red alert 2 and other classic games. Not.too much bleeding edge stuff that needs a lot of power.
