Romania Says Russia Attacking Black Sea Route for Ukraine Ships

Russia is increasingly targeting Ukraine’s grain export corridors in the Black Sea and that increases security risks for the entire region, Romanian President Nicusor Dan said on Friday.

The European Union member, which shares the longest border with Ukraine, is currently investigating whether the drones that hit two commercial vessels close to its territorial waters in the past two days were indeed Russian, he told Bloomberg TV in an interview.

“We cannot say technically now that there are Russians,” Dan said. “What we can say is that we had hundreds of air drones on the Danube border with Ukraine that passed to the Romanian territory.”

“The good part of them” contained Russian components, the president said. “They are attacking a corridor, a navy corridor that is used by the Ukrainians, in order to transport grains,” according to Dan.
