Functional diversification of the cephalopod proteome by RNA editing

Coleoid cephalopods edit their RNA at a level far beyond other animals, but the functional consequences to the proteome have been largely unknown. Proteomic detection of recoded sites reveals that single amino acid edits alter protein stability, subcellular localization, post-translational modification, and organelle function.
