Column|Anthropic: What the New 3Q Numbers Mean
Anthropic disclosed 3Q26 revenue of $16.8Bn during its just-completed pre-IPO investor day. The company had previously disclosed 2Q26 revenue of $11.5Bn and 1Q26 revenue of $4.7Bn.
There is speculation that the company guided to $100Bn of ARR by year-end, but we don’t believe it has given explicit guidance.
Based on the disclosures and our own tracking over time, we built a full-year ARR and revenue model for Anthropic.
Equities went through major volatility over the past week. The reasons included
- OpenAI’s ARR is $50Bn, not $70Bn. There is a net vs. gross difference, but the comparison itself shows the market has started tracking ARR much more closely. A big Personal Agent narrative used to be enough. Not anymore.
- Personal Agent DAU has entered a short-term plateau. Since our earlier Muse report, more and more research has started discussing Personal Agent DAU and retention. The growing focus on numbers is also making the big narrative more short-term.
- There were a lot of concerns ahead of the Anthropic listing. After Anthropic published its anti-distillation report in particular, the market worried that cutting distillation revenue would hurt 3Q26 revenue and future revenue guidance.
- Yields. For a while, rising yields signaled that people saw AI demand as strong; it was AI demand driving yields higher. Now yields and AI demand are gradually decoupling. Yields have become a headwind, and the market is paying more attention to moves in CDS.
After the Anthropic pre-IPO investor day, a few things changed
