Plenty of Ambition. No Skills.

All, I am a Petroleum Engineer by degree. I've been vibe coding for several months, but I have zero data science background. I've got plenty of ambition, but I'm not sure how to turn this into real work. For those of you who've been down this road: Where should someone like me begin? What should I learn first, and what can I safely skip? Any mistakes to avoid as a non-data-scientist? I appreciate any help!
