I built a free, local AI auto-captioner for YouTube videos — V1.0 released

I've been working on Tech Bench Auto-Captioner, a free Windows app that automatically captions videos and burns karaoke-style subtitles directly into them. I originally wanted a faster alternative to online captioning tools, without uploading my videos, waiting in queues or dealing with subscription limits. Features Karaoke-style captions that highlight the currently spoken word Customisable fonts, colours, sizes and caption styles Exports captioned MP4 videos and standard .srt subtitle files Batch processing with a progress bar GPU acceleration when supported Supports horizontal videos, vertical Shorts and rotated phone footage Custom vocabulary prompts for technical terms Keeps your original videos untouched It uses faster-whisper for transcription and FFmpeg for rendering, running locally on your PC. A couple of things to know: V1.0 is source-code only — it isn't packaged as a standalone .exe , so you'll need to install Python and the dependencies yourself. V1.1.0 is planned to include an .exe , making installation much easier without manually setting everything up. It's an early project, so feedback, bug reports and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
