Is pursuing graphic design or ui/ux still worth it in the age of AI?
I’m currently in my final year of CSE (Data Science) at one of the top engineering colleges in Karnataka. I never really considered design before engineering, but during college I got heavily involved in it. I was the Design Head for my college TEDx club and am currently the Design Head of our theatre club. Through these experiences, I’ve realized that I genuinely enjoy design and would like to pursue UI/UX or graphic design professionally. However, with AI growing so quickly like Google Stitch generating UIs, vibe coding tools, generative design, etc. I’m confused about how viable design will be as a long-term career. I recently came across NID and was wondering whether pursuing formal design education would be worth it, or if I should first take courses, build a portfolio and try getting into the industry directly. Would love to hear from people already in design.
