Made an encrypted chat client for matrix myself using Cinny
Hello people I am a security researcher that has been getting tired of all the surveillance laws, and privacy restrictions being imposed on chat apps like discord, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and forked cinny - a matrix gui(what its known for) client, I have been working on this for a while now, a couple of months I would say. On top of Matrix's end to end encrypted messages, I added an encrypted vault so your friends list, DM list and privacy settings are stored on the homeserver as ciphertext (stock Matrix stores these in plain text), passkey sign in, and a file and link checker that scans files with YARA right in your browser, so nothing gets uploaded, Also added features that cinny did not have i.e. features like improved voice calls, screensharing etc. Note that these are just some of the features, the client talks straight to your Matrix homeserver, so if you already run Synapse, Conduit or anything similar, you can point it at that. It also works with public servers like matrix.org. The client is a static web app, so you can build it and host it yourself too. Client Homepage: home.angaara.app Security write up and documentation on how the client handles data is written up here: security.angaara.app I would like feedback on this, especially from people running their own homeservers Credits: Note that it's a fork of Cinny , which is a great client, so go check them out.
