ExodusPoint Joins Hedge Funds Partnering With Anthropic Over AI

ExodusPoint Capital Management is working with Anthropic PBC to expand the use of artificial intelligence agent Claude across its hedge fund operations.

The multistrategy firm is bringing Claude into its internal AI platform Atlas to enhance investment research, portfolio management and operations, according to a statement Tuesday. More than 80% of ExodusPoint employees use Atlas each week, the firm said in the statement.

ExodusPoint said it had tested the leading AI models on applications from investment research to operations and software engineering, and determined that Claude performed best. Aside from the enhancements the tool is bringing to front office processes, Claude Code has saved ExodusPoint’s operations team about four analyst hours a day on average, it said.

“Use of Anthropic’s models, operating through Atlas, our proprietary AI platform, removes friction in the investment process and gives our portfolio managers a tighter feedback loop between external research, our proprietary data, and their own judgment,” said Garrett Berg, ExodusPoint’s president and chief operating officer.

Rapid enhancements in artificial intelligence are raising the stakes for hedge funds as they look to maintain their edge. Money managers, who have been using machine learning and algorithmic trading for decades, are now rushing to explore how the technology can enhance everything from investment to back-office processes.

Millennium Management partnered with Anthropic to build an AI-powered risk analyst, while Man Group Plc also teamed-up with the Claude-maker earlier this year over the design and application of AI at the hedge fund firm.

ExodusPoint, which manages $15 billion of assets, was founded in 2017 and is led by Michael Gelband, the firm’s chief executive officer and chief investment officer. The hedge fund lost 0.9% in July, putting year-to date returns through the first seven months of the year at 3.5%, Bloomberg has reported.
