Tariffs ruled the lobbying registry in August

The Canada-U.S. trade war ruled the news cycle in August, and lobbying records suggest the topic was the main priority among the top lobbying groups in Ottawa last month, too.

Lobbying reports for the month of August, released on Sept. 15, show Quebec's Federation of Chambers of Commerce reported 35 communications with officials — the most of any group that month — including three with Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne.
