Who’s old enough to remember the emergence of CAD?

I’m not old enough nor do I use CAD but found this quote in Arena Magazine fascinating. “Between the 1970s and 1990s, major Western aerospace and auto firms poured millions into custom software, attempting to construct technical moats around their engineering. He believed aerospace design was an art.” It goes on to explain how the stealth technology was one of the first major breakthroughs using CAD that could not have been possible using only two dimensional drawings.
