built an entire text adventure game with claude in one evening and my kid has not stopped playing it
my eight year old is obsessed with a video game and wanted a story version. so we sat down together and described the world, the characters, and the rules, and built a little text adventure over one evening. the magic was doing it with her. she would say i want a dragon that is actually shy, and we would add it, and see it work seconds later. she got a tiny glimpse of building instead of just consuming. it is janky and the save system barely works, but she has played it every night for a week and started asking to add new rooms herself. watching a kid realize software is something you can make, not just use, was worth more than the game. anyone else building things with their kids? what did you make?
