S&P 500 Futures Climb in Premarket Trading; Akamai Technologies, Corteva Lead

With U.S. stock markets set to open in two hours, Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) was up 19.8% in pre-market trading, and Corteva Inc. (CTVA) was up 5.7%.

Equinix Inc. (EQIX), Celanese Corp. (CE), and CareTrust REIT Inc. (CTRE) were all posting gains of at least 5%. In early trading, Sonoco Products Co. (SON) and Garmin Ltd. (GRMN) had posted declines, falling 4.5% and 4.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile S&P 500 futures were up 0.38%, with futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.36%. The Cboe Volatility Index futures were up 1.47%.

In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 2.02%, and gold futures were up 1.14%. Bitcoin rose 0.63% to $84,912.

The 10-Year Treasury yield fell to 5.176%.

In the previous regular trading session, the S&P 500 and the Dow were down 0.02% and 0.31%, respectively. In Asia overnight, Japan’s NIKKEI 225 Index was up 1.30%.

In afternoon trading, stocks in Europe are up, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index climbing 0.65% and the FTSE 100 Index rising 0.34% from the previous close.
