I built a tool that quizzes you on literally anything — type "Byzantine empire," get a test Hey everyone. I kept consuming documentaries and podcasts and forgetting 90% of them by Thursday. I tried Anki — great tool, but writing my own cards never survived contact with my laziness. So I built Retainza: you type any topic (no content to upload, no setup), it generates a quiz instantly, and spaced repetition + streaks decide when you should see it again. What it doesn't do: chat, knowledge graphs, or a browser extension. The competition adds complexity; I wanted the opposite — type words, get quizzed. Stack: React + Express + Mongo, quiz generation via LLM, SM-2 scheduling. Free while in beta — I'm explicitly researching whether people return, not monetizing yet. Would genuinely value blunt feedback, especially from Anki users who will probably tell me what's wrong with this. Roast away.
