i will not promote: building a boring startup, would you rather hire for motivation or intelligence?

I'm building a boring startup(not in the AI/tech space), hence finding talent or people motivated to work is rare. Finding both is even harder. I'm stuck between two candidates A: sharp young 2nd year uni student, sees this just as an internship/life experience, not likely to stay, but creative and can direct her own work B: 4 year working experience, one of those corporate people that got let go as companies reduced footprint in my local market, super committed, but not that sharp, needs me to breakdown problems and give a lot of directions I feel like this is a common dilemma for founders, curious how you guys approach it
