Opus Origin Sells InfraXmedia in First Major Exit Since Founding

Opus Origin sold InfraXmedia, a B2B media, events and intelligence company serving the digital infrastructure industry, to private equity firm Bowmark Capital. Terms weren’t disclosed.
The deal marks Opus Origin’s first big exit since founding in 2022.
InfraXmedia, founded in 2022, serves the global data center, computer and AI infrastructure ecosystem with brands including DatacenterDynamics, Yotta, Data Center Nation and SDxCentral. Opus still holds WHD Event GmbH, which runs cloud festivals and events, and Retcon, centered on the future of real estate.
Opus Origin, backed by Stephen Brooks, who sold Mack Brooks to RX Global in 2019, in 2024 said it had a fund in excess of £100 million with a remit to invest in businesses generating between £1m to £5m EBITDA.
It bought Data Center Nation in late 2024, folding it into InfraXmedia alongside DatacenterDyanamics, which was Opus Origin’s first acquisition in 2022. It launched Yotta, focused on the intersection of AI, energy and infrastructure, in 2023.
Two years ago, Opus Origin was struggling to find suitable companies to buy with some in competitive spaces and others without clear opportunities to expand into different service lines.
The deal comes amid a spate of M&A in events, fueled by private equity’s seemingly insatiable appetite for AI-proof investments built around proprietary data and real-world communities. But that demand is increasingly colliding with a supply problem.
Roughly two-thirds of exhibition acquisitions last year involved founder-led businesses, even as large organizers have largely stopped launching events themselves. With fewer new shows being created to replenish the acquisition pipeline, rising demand for a shrinking pool of proven assets could ultimately drive up valuations and stagnate the broader market.
Bowmark’s investment will support the company’s next phase of growth, including investment in its new market intelligence product, DCD Intelligence, further international events expansion, enhanced technology and AI capabilities, and selective acquisitions.
Annual revenue at InfraXmedia has risen more than 40% in recent years, driven by the international expansion of its events brands and the scaling of its “data-driven sales enablement and learning platforms.”
