Steven Collins' January 9 cartoon from the Economist starts with a man's sudden displacement after he places a simple fast-food order:

He ends up in a secret war room — simply failing to use an available Americanism is enough to enlist him in the Resistance:

The Wikipedia entry (see also here) indicates that fanny pack itself is an Americanism. Perhaps the joke behind the cartoon is that Resistance Is Futile?

Interestingly, the Wiktionary entry for get doesn't yet make note of the "can I have" / "can I get" issue.
