NAS HDMI use

Complete newbie looking to add a NAS to my network to rip my DVD collection. I generally use Roku and believe I understand how it would be a jellyfin client talking to a jellyfin server on my NAS. However if I get a NAS with HDMI output, how is it controlled? I have a home theater that I would like to connect the NAS directly to my receiver instead of going through the network to watch movies. Is this possible?
