Taishen: A Desktop AI Workbench for DeepSeek — GUI Agent, Not a Chat Client

Sharing a project I've been building: Taishen — a desktop AI workbench purpose-built for DeepSeek. Among the 23 tools on the official awesome-deepseek-agent list, 15 are terminal CLI tools, 3 are VS Code extensions. Taishen is one of only 2 GUI desktop applications — and the only one built as an Agent workbench , not a chat client. Why a desktop app matters Terminal tools are for developers. Browser chat windows lock you in a tab — no drag-and-drop, no local programs, no cross-window workflow. A real desktop application lets you drag files in, work across multiple sessions, and generate complete Word / PPT / PDF / Excel documents in one click. When you're away from your desk, WeChat / Feishu / QQ turn your phone into a remote control. Send a request from anywhere, and the desktop keeps producing. It's the only GUI app on the awesome-deepseek-agent list with IM remote access. Core features Proactive guidance — Can't write prompts? Say "analyze these competitor reports." Vague requirements? It pops up and asks clarifying questions. Your role isn't Prompt Engineer — it's Principal. DeepSeek-native integration, 99% prefix cache hit rate — Uses DeepSeek's native thinking format directly, no OpenAI compatibility layer. The entire System Prompt architecture is designed with every word's injection position verified against cache behavior. Production-verified 99% hit rate means per-round API cost barely grows with session length. Tai An Canvas — 7 streaming canvases (writing, code, HTML, terminal, data, image, Flow). AI works in real-time as you watch. All canvases are bidirectional — you can edit directly. Full version history. Parallel agents + cross-model — Dispatch multiple workers simultaneously. DeepSeek V4 for reasoning, GPT-4o for vision. Different models, one conversation. Memory that works both ways — In-session context tracking with auto-compression. Cross-session memory with 30-day adaptive decay. Natural language behavior rules enforced across all sessions. Four-layer security — PathGuard, command sandbox, network boundary, gate rejection. Local storage. OS-level key encryption. Self-diagnosis — AI queries its own structured logs (6 levels × 9 categories) when something breaks. No console, no log diving. Experience Encoder — AI detects workflow friction and encapsulates solutions into reusable Skills or TypeScript tools. Your instance develops a unique capability profile over time. MCP ecosystem — Native Model Context Protocol support. Code graph indexing, deep browser control, structured search across 22 vertical domains. Free. Windows + macOS (Apple Silicon).
