Microsoft validates this specific skill set through the Windows Server Administrator Associate credential. However, Microsoft is retiring both the AZ-800 and AZ-801 exams on September 30, 2026, replacing them with a single consolidated exam: AZ-802 (Administering Windows Server Hybrid Infrastructure). There are no formal exam prerequisites required to achieve this qualification—passing the consolidated AZ-802 exam is the sole requirement. However, if you are just starting out with cloud-connected servers, earning the AZ-900 (Microsoft Azure Fundamentals) is the ideal baseline to get you started, making this hybrid certification the logical next step right after.
