Republicans Kick Off Midterm Rally in Texas

President Trump is scheduled to speak tonight after 9 p.m. and again tomorrow night. If the rah-rah of politics isn’t your thing, there is another team sport on tonight: The NFL season opener with the New England Patriots taking on the Seattle Seahawks.

The Treasury Department said it would buy billions in 10-year to 20-year Treasurys at its buyback operation tomorrow. Even so, yields climbed to fresh multiyear highs today. Secretary Scott Bessent has talked a big game about bringing down yields, but so far his efforts haven’t been big enough. The yield on 10-year Treasury notes closed at 4.83% today, the highest since 2023. The 30-year yield climbed back above 5.3% before slipping to 5.285%.

The Middle East envoy’s 2025 income from the holding company that owns his stake in World Liberty Financial is more than three times what he reported last year, according to a new financial disclosure. It included nearly $69 million in cash and $38 million in crypto. Witkoff co-founded World Liberty with Trump and his family members in 2024.

Farley said in an interview with WSJ that “These are basic misunderstandings, mistruths, whatever words you want to use, that could be cleared up in a five-minute call.” For context: Duffy, in a letter to Ford, made public yesterday, accused the company of “actively intertwining its future with Chinese state-backed enterprises.”

All jokes aside, Deere is betting that AI can help farmers make better decisions—eventually leading to more sales for the farm equipment company. The free AI assistant is meant to provide quick answers to questions about planting, harvesting or other business decisions. But a slumping farm economy has dragged down farmers’ spending on equipment in recent years. Will an AI help turn things around for Deere?
