Keep images metadata private

I wrote about stripping metadata before sharing them and how it can be a privacy risk. I found that doing this on the phone and macOS is not very smooth. So I thought why not do it in the browser? I found a few online tools, but I don't trust them my photos. So I built a simple tool that does this in the browser, without uploading the photos anywhere.

The tool is very simple, you just drag and drop your photos and it will strip the metadata and give you a download link for the stripped photos. The tool is open source and you can find the code on GitHub. I host the tool on GitHub Pages, so I can just go to melashri.net/strip and use it.

The tool is optimized for mobile, so you can use it on your phone as well. Everything happens on the browser so no backend, no uploads, no tracking. Just a simple tool to help you keep your photos private. And of course if you don't trust my hosted version, you can always clone the repo and run it locally. And of course inspect the code to make sure it's doing what it says it's doing (or use your agent harness with your favorite LLM to analyze the code).
