The Orienting Frame

If sensorimotor cortex can be lesioned without impairing action verbs, that does not hand the job to visual cortex — the incumbent alternative is an amodal hub in the anterior temporal lobe. But a weaker version of the claim survives and is worth more: vision is an anatomical label on a functional process, hand-anchored visual receptive fields prime motor action, and sound and touch move the eyes through aligned midbrain maps. Olfaction is the one that does not join.
