Announcing Fusion Forward: Design for Home, a New Competition from Core77 and Autodesk Fusion
Core77 and Autodesk Fusion have teamed up to launch Fusion Forward: Design for Home, a competition inviting designers to reconsider the products that shape everyday domestic life. The brief is broad but pointed: create a consumer product for the home that shows real thought in material selection, form development, and utility. Judges want to see designs that don't just look good in a render but hold up to how people actually live, work, and take care of themselves at home.
Entrants choose one of three categories:
Smart Home Devices — controllers, sensors, displays, hubs, switches, and monitoring devices. The prompt here is about restraint as much as capability: how does a connected product become part of the furniture instead of another gadget competing for counter space?
Personal Fitness & Wellness — exercise equipment, meditation aids, posture support, recovery tools, and health monitoring devices. The category rewards designs built for the fifth month of use, not just the first week of enthusiasm.
Home & Yard Maintenance — tools for cleaning, organizing, gardening, repairs, and seasonal upkeep. The challenge is making necessary, often unglamorous tasks more efficient and more pleasant to do.
Across all three, Autodesk wants to see Fusion's computational tools put to real use: generative design, simulation, parametric modeling, or form optimization applied in service of the product, not as decoration. Entrants will need to submit a short and long written description, up to 10 images, and a written outline of how Fusion factored into their process.
Prizes and Timeline
Three category winners will each receive $2,500 plus $250 worth of Autodesk branded merchandise, while up to two notable entries per category will also receive $250 worth of Autodesk merchandise. All finalists will have their work featured in a dedicated gallery on Core77.com and shared across Core77 and Autodesk's social channels.
The competition opens for entry today and closes September 28, 2026. Winners will be announced October 20.

Entries will be reviewed by a panel of experts. Michelle Lee (Partner & Executive Managing Director, IDEO), Keren Wong (Partnerships, Design For Play, IDEO), Alex Pearce (Associate Design Director, Seymourpowell), Luke Mihelcic (Senior Manager, Product Marketing, Autodesk) and Nick Lieven (Industry Strategy Manager, Consumer Products, Autodesk).
