Refreshing Skills and AI

Some days I like to make some code changes to make my program faster or more reliable. This also helps me keep my programming skills refreshed —I don't want to forget anything important. Today I reviewed file, and decided to make the changes with OpenCode and Qwen 3.6 35B.

Refreshing Skills

I started up llama-cpp and OpenCode, and typed my specific prompt into OpenCode. The model made the required changes, and I had several follow-up prompts to make things perfect.

In this entire process, Qwen 3.6, run locally on my PC, made no mistakes, and it made all the necessary changes. I used multiple prompts, but this was required as a data file needed to be rewritten. I never edited the source code myself.

As an aside, Qwen 3.6 35B works better than Gemma 4 12B for agentic coding in my experience. For a local model, Qwen 35B is quite proficient, and it probably even is useful in actual development—not just testing AI setups.
