How hard do you try to like the books that you're reading?

TL;DR - The first four paragraphs are my own answer to the post. Everything beyond is just examples of my reading style in action. To be perfectly clear, this is not a judgmental question. I 100% subscribe to the idea that reading should be, above all, enjoyable. Whatever that means to any given reader is totally subjective to that reader.
