Well that was amazing. Thank you for that post! I hadn't even heard of Evreinov. And I felt the Smokers Allowed piece had this almost eerie quality, it was compelling to watch almost despite itself. It's like by abstracting these simple human actions or ways of behaving he makes them almost sacred or something. While also being ridiculous.
And I can't believe that was the name of Evreinov's lost play! What a connection.
This was a great essay. Thanks so much for sharing all this information and drawing that connection.
