Google Acquires Qualcomm Stake Through Modular Purchase

Google’s investment arm Google Ventures has acquired nearly 3 million shares of the chip maker Qualcomm, as a result of Qualcomm’s purchase of chip software startup Modular, which Google partly owned, according to a securities filing on Friday and a Google spokesperson.
At Sept. 30, the stake was worth about $548 million, although Qualcomm shares have fallen in value since then.
Google also has stakes in the chip designer Arm and a deal with chip designer Marvell for up to $12.2 billion in stock as the companies work on Google’s tensor processing units, the company’s in-house AI chips.
