Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia’s PIF Made Takeover Approach for Unity Software

Video game software maker Unity Software has been approached for a potential takeover by an investor consortium including Saudi Arabia’s PIF and Silver Lake, according to people familiar with the matter.

Unity has been working with investment banks to weigh its options, the people said. Unity currently has a market cap of $20 billion, meaning the deal could be worth at least $26 billion, assuming a typical 30% premium on public takeovers.

Silver Lake has held a stake in Unity for years. Silver Lake’s co-CEO Egon Durban and senior partner James Whitehurst both held a board seat. Reuters earlier reported on the deal talks.
