OpenAI Agrees to Buy Software Startup Pierre to Bolster Codex

OpenAI on Wednesday said it was buying Pierre Computer Company, a three-year-old startup that builds software tools to help developers manage and review code.
OpenAI’s coding agent Codex is already using Pierre’s open-source developer tools, including Code Storage, a service that allows developers to store and track the history of their code.
The company did not reveal the price of the acquisition. Pierre Computer, which was founded by former Coinbase engineers Jacob Thornton and Ian Ownbey, had raised $23 million as of last October, according to Pitchbook.
