First time founder here. What's one thing you wish you'd measured from day one? I will not promote.
Hey everyone. I'm a first time founder building a consumer music app with a small team. During the day I work in continuous improvement for a logistics company, so I'm pretty much wired to measure everything and look for waste. We just put our Android app out last week with no ads, and I built an owners' dashboard to track what people actually do: sign-ups, onboarding completion, posts, shares, who comes back. Early on the onboarding numbers look great. Retention is the part I can't read yet, because we don't even have a full second week of data. Biggest surprise so far had nothing to do with the product. I spent weeks untangling an IRS name mismatch on my EIN that got my business bank account rejected and blocked my Apple developer account. Lesson learned: get your entity paperwork right before you touch anything else. So for those of you a few steps ahead: - What metric did you wish you'd tracked from day one? - What looked important early but turned out to be noise? Happy to share what I've learned about LLC setup, self-hosting on a budget, or applying CI/lean thinking to a startup if it's useful to anyone.
