Agent-Based Modeling: Worlds Within Worlds
In the 21st century, surging computational power and dataset availability have made agent-based modeling increasingly useful to decision-makers. To imagine where the method might go next, it serves us to look at history. This interactive multimedia story features SFI contributions to the rise of agent-based modeling in the social sciences, considers the method's roots in the Manhattan Project and John Conway’s Game of Life, presents several pared-down playable models, and ends with a view to the future.
