Finally done with all four Claude certs. Three things I wish I'd known going in

5

Hey all, Just wrapped up the last one, so I now have all four: Associate, Developer Foundations, Architect Foundations and Architect Professional. I've seen quite a few posts here asking how to prepare, so I figured I'd share what worked for me. A few things I learned along the way: 1. Don't just focus on what you already know. I initially spent more time on topics I was comfortable with, but that wasn't necessarily where I needed the most work. Safety and responsible use, for example, were areas I had to spend extra time on because they don't come up as much in my day-to-day work. 2. Understanding the scenario matters more than memorizing facts. A lot of questions have two answers that seem reasonable at first. The difference usually comes down to the specific requirements, whether that's cost, latency, scalability, or risk. Taking the time to properly understand the scenario before looking at the answers helped me quite a bit. 3. Actually build something. Reading about tool use and MCP is helpful, but trying it yourself makes things click in a different way. I spent a weekend experimenting with a small project, and it made some of the scenario-based questions much easier to reason through. Also building things at work (mostly apps/agents using Microsoft APIs) helped me understand concepts like MCPs and other (for some, for some not) complex topics. Study materials I started with the official study guides, which are definitely worth going through. I also used Skillmarked for practice exams. I'd tried a couple of other mock exam sites beforehand, but I found the questions on Skillmarked more useful for preparing for the actual exams. They also have domain based questions and study guide, so you don't waste time on a domain which just has a couple of percentages of the actual exam. Happy to answer questions about any of the four certifications or how I prepared. Obviously can't share actual exam questions, but happy to help where I can.
