The Leak Suspicions That Got Three OpenAI Staffers Fired

Last month, three OpenAI safety researchers were summoned to meetings with the company’s security team and asked to unlock their personal phones. The company suspected them of leaking its closely guarded secrets: the internal designs of its AI models. A week later, all three were fired.

OpenAI says an internal investigation found they violated company policy. In statements and interviews with the Journal, the researchers dispute that account.
