I'm not a programmer. I turned my Wordle spreadsheet into a free helper that knows which answers are repeats
Free. No ads. Always. bestnextguess.com For years I played Wordle with a spreadsheet that filtered the word list by my greens and yellows. This year I turned it into a website with help from Claude, an AI assistant: it wrote the code, and I decided what to build and checked the results. The hook: since February 2026, Wordle has been reusing old answers. The first repeat was CIGAR, the very first Wordle answer, on Feb 2. Counting the daily answers since then, about 1 in 10 has been a repeat. So when you're down to a few words, one that has never been the answer is far more likely. The helper gives never-used words 89% of the odds and repeats 11%. What it does: - Type your guess and tap the tiles to match your colors - See every word still possible, with its chance of being the answer - Get the smartest next guess, plus a "best shot to win now" pick - Normal or Hard mode, older puzzles, an opener checker, and a stats page on repeats that updates daily The engine (v2.0.1) plans ahead, solves small groups of words exactly, and keeps track of how many guesses you have left. In a simulation of all 2,377 possible answers (every answer equally likely), it wins every Normal-mode game and 2,375 of 2,377 in Hard mode. It works like a phone app: on Android, tap "Install app" at the top; on iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It gets its own icon, opens full-screen and works offline. No app store. Under the hood: plain HTML and JavaScript. The engine runs in your browser, so there's no server and your guesses never leave your device. It's hosted free on GitHub Pages, a daily GitHub Action adds each new answer, and visits are counted anonymously with GoatCounter (no cookies). Total cost so far: $11 for the domain. I'd love feedback, especially on anything confusing or anything you'd add. Reply here, or use the contact on the About page (hello@bestnextguess.com).
