Permanent Caching in Codex and Work Makes Pro Subscriptions More Valuable Than Ever
OpenAI just said, for Codex and Work users, cached context is now retained indefinitely. If that's the case, it effectively reduces token costs for subscribers, which is basically a price cut. I also think this makes higher-tier subscriptions (like Pro 100, 200, and 500) more valuable. Switching between accounts can cause you to lose cached context. For example, 5 Plus accounts vs. 1 Pro 5x account . Even if they offer the same total usage limits, the single Pro 5x account could now be more cost-efficient thanks to persistent caching, compared to rotating between five Plus accounts. And the same logic applies to higher subscription tiers as well.
