GOP House Super PAC, Talarico Raise Record Cash in Final Stretch

The super political action committee tied to House Speaker Mike Johnson said it raised $94.4 million in the third quarter and entered October with $155.2 million in cash on hand as it shifts money to more competitive races before next month’s midterm elections.

The Congressional Leadership Fund and an allied nonprofit called American Action Network have raised $370 million so far in the two-year election cycle, a record for the groups, the PAC said Thursday.

Republican super PACs and party committees have enjoyed a wide fundraising edge, building a $1.1 billion war chest in their party committees and main super PACs by the end of the second quarter, triple the amount Democrats held.

Yet strong fundraising by Democratic candidates in many races has offset the GOP advantage in outside money. Texas Representative James Talarico raised $64 million in the third quarter for his Senate campaign, his campaign said Thursday. That total is not only triple the $18 million in fundraising announced by his opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, but also is a record for third-quarter hauls among US Senate candidates.

Talarico’s campaign said it has raised about $134 million since September 2025, with contributions from more than 1.3 million people. Some 97% of the donations were $100 or less, according to the campaign.

On the Republican side, the Congressional Leadership Fund’s record fundraising comes as it has begun withdrawing support from some candidates struggling to gain support. The group pulled funding recently for two GOP incumbents, Representatives Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey and Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa, as well as two challengers once thought to have a chance to flip Democratic seats in Ohio and Michigan. Instead, the money is being redirected to other candidates in more competitive races.

“We are actively deploying resources to shape the competitive map and keep Democrat extremists out of power,” CLF President Chris Winkelman said in a statement, crediting Johnson for the fundraising success.

Asked about the CLF’s move, Kean’s campaign said it is still prepared to win.

“Republicans have massively outspent Democrats in this campaign and the Kean campaign is fully funded down the home stretch,” said Harrison Neely, a spokesman for the campaign.

Republican prospects have dimmed as voters grow frustrated with the state of the economy and the performance of President Donald Trump. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report shifted its ratings on 18 House races in the Democrats’ direction last week. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to retake the Senate.

CLF and other committees that file reports with the Federal Election Commission, including congressional campaigns and many major super PACs, are due to file detailed reports on their finances and donors by midnight Thursday.
