Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: Peter Lazaroff on The Perfect Portfolio; Bogleheads® on Investing podcast

It was timely to ask about that quote in his book on bond funds and duration when interest rates are rising. I've suggested in some recent bond threads that the YouTube version (from 23:53 through about 30:30) is worth the time just on that topic. Declining bond prices and NAVs aren't the whole story for investors with a time horizon that's appropriate for the type of fund they're buying. The chart he used to illustrate cumulative total returns provides some useful context.
This is a great callout, thank you!

Sometimes I catch up with podcasts a bit later and recently enjoyed Ben Carlson's comments on bonds as well, including his good historical perspective on diversification (and I do listen to the entire podcast, I'm not just a bond groupie!). Also, the podcast transcripts are a real plus to review later. There aren't many sites I need when Bogleheads.org exists, but Ben's A Wealth of Common Sense is full of financial common sense, wisdom, and a great historical perspective. You mention donating to The John C. Bogle Center for Financial Literacy and these podcasts, along with everything else at Bogleheads.org, prompted me to make a donation today. Granted, not a gigantic donation, but the knowledge base here deserves support. Keep up the good work, Jon!
